Course request form
At EDOCEO Academy, we believe our programme should be shaped by what clinicians actually want and need to learn. Rather than filling a calendar with courses and hoping people want to attend them, we plan course dates around learner interest, identified priorities and instructor availability. If there is a particular course or topic you would like to attend, please complete the Course Request Form below and let us know what matters to you. Your expression of interest helps us understand which programmes are most valuable to our learning community and where we should focus our teaching calendar. There is no obligation to enrol — when sufficient interest exists and an instructor is available, we’ll look to schedule the course and let those who have expressed an interest know first.
Continued professional development (CPD)
Following the introduction of paramedic registration and the mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) requirement to complete at least 30 hours of CPD each year. To comply with the registration standard, paramedics must complete a minimum of 30 hours of CPD activities in each registration year.
CPD activities should:
- seek to improve patient outcomes and experiences;
- draw on the best available evidence, including well-established and accepted knowledge that is supported by research where possible, to inform good practice and decision-making;
- contribute directly to improving your competence (performance and behaviour) and keeping you up to date in your chosen scope and setting of practice;
- build on your existing knowledge; and
- include a minimum of eight hours CPD in an interactive setting with other practitioners.
Relevant CPD — not simply CPD hours
EDOCEO Academy education programmes are designed to provide relevant, purposeful and clinically applicable CPD opportunities for paramedics and other healthcare professionals. Rather than designing courses simply to provide participants with CPD hours, our programmes begin with the question: what will this learning help you do better in clinical practice?
Our programmes build upon clinicians’ existing knowledge and experience, using contemporary evidence alongside the realities of pre-hospital, emergency and critical care practice. Learning is designed around clinical problems, patient presentations and decisions that practitioners may encounter in the real world, helping participants connect knowledge with assessment, clinical reasoning, decision-making and patient care.
Face-to-face programmes emphasise interactive learning. Facilitated discussion, case-based learning, practical workshops, skills stations, simulation, clinical scenarios and shared reflection provide opportunities to learn both with and from other practitioners. Participants are encouraged to question, discuss and explore not only what should be done, but why, what evidence supports that approach, and how it may influence the patient’s experience and outcome.
EDOCEO Academy programmes are therefore intended to contribute meaningfully to an individual’s wider CPD portfolio. The relevance of any CPD activity will ultimately depend upon the practitioner’s own learning needs, scope and setting of practice, and professional development goals.
We believe CPD should be measured by more than the number of hours completed. The real value is what you learn, what you reflect upon, and what you take back into practice.
